For Teams
The DBT consultation team is a core component of comprehensive DBT. Team is an opportunity to discuss difficulties, validate team members, provide problem-solving, and allow vulnerability so we can be the most effective therapists to our clients.
Support Within a Team
It is important to create a cohesive team so that all therapists feel safe and that they can share their struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. As a DBT therapist we often work with clients who have diagnoses or behaviors that most other therapists are not equipped to work with. While all therapists need support, DBT therapists need a supportive team. Click here to learn more about the importance of team and how to build a cohesive team.

Potential Concerns
For so long the therapeutic community has taken the approach that clinicians must be "blank slates" and not have any "problems" in their own lives. While we are moving away from this, there is still a culture of stigma. Disclosing that you have been a DBT client as a DBT therapist may raise concerns. Teams, supervisors, or colleagues may have questions and perhaps their own hesitancies. Click here to learn more about concerns that may arise and how to manage them.
